Best Way To Deal With Rude Messages?

Recently I answered a question in the dog section about a woman(?) who stated that she bred her dog in April and wanted to know if she was pregnant or not. In the question, it was clear that she had no business breeding her dog, as she didn’t know what she was doing and that’s dangerous to the dogs health and well being. Well the only answer I had for that question was "Idiot". Mostly because I care for animals and knowing that an ignorant person was out there with one bugs me.

A few hours later however, I receive not one, but two very rude and insulting and somewhat explicit private messages. Now I returned her messages with one that told her to grow up.

What would you have done or what do you believe is the best way to deal with these messages that you sometimes receive on these forums, because you have given someone an answer they don’t want?

Not worth worrying about!

Our non-neutered Pom pees our Pom that is. The second dog has TERRIBLE skin problems. What should we do?

I think the non-neutered dog is marking his territory, but how do we stop him from peeing on the other dog. We let them go out separately sometimes. The second dog has, ongoing, serious skin problems. We wash him with a medicated shampoo, but that only freshens him up for a little while. I should probably get some Vet RX for him. Trying to take care of it on our own doesn’t seem to be working. Any natural remedies out there?
Thanks in Advance!

how about having him neutered and taking the other one to the vet to figure out why he has bad skin. could be allergies could be a thyroid issue.

dogs that detect when you have a medical problems such as epilepsy?

there are dogs that are trained for medical purposes such as letting you know when it is time to take your medication or to protect you when you are having a seizure. I would like to know where I can go to find out more about this.

The website in my source has a lot of information as well as links to even more information. I have a cat that can tell when I’m about to have one, so not all "epilepsy dogs" are dogs or even trained.

Is it bad for my dog’s health or well being in general if I get a new dog that will be inside the house?

My family has had our dog since he was a puppy (now 6). He has always been a backyard dog, as he is half Lab and half Rot Weiler and is huge. We rarely let him go inside the house because he sheds a lot. I am thinking about getting a smaller dog just for me that I would keep indoors, but I’m not sure how my older dog would react. I mean I know he will get jealous, but I’m not sure how bad it will be or if it would start to affect his health in any way. Any thoughts?

I recently did the exact same thing! I have a dog that is mainly an outside dog. This past summer i god a smaller dog that stays inside. My outside dog is male and has never really gotten along with other male dogs..so i got a female. My dog is 6 as well. As long as you continue the same routine with your dog he should adjust. Although they are not really playmates..they get along. (outside dog is 45lbs..inside dog is 3.5lbs, but growing fast:) He might get a bit jealous…but that is just dog nature. Just give him a bit of extra love and yummy bones!! i bet he will forgive you! Health wise, we have had no problems

Can someone help me find a dog training facility with a good price?

Possibly somewhere in New York or around New York like New Jersey or Conneticut or something. I’m looking for one of those training facilities that has boarding for your dog and, of course, a training program. (Example: k9one) I’ve already looked at k9one, but I was hoping some could give me a place with a cheaper price. Please provide a link or something so that I can check it out myself. Thank you!

I co-instruct at a community park and it is free. The reason is to help people with untrained dogs and make them a better pet. I also go to the ocotc and it is $50 for an 8 week course, but they also teach you how to show in obedience.

Has anyone heard of these problems with beneful?

I ran across this on a forum for Husky owners, do not use this food but thought I would try to inform anyone who does
Beneful Dog Food is Suspected of Causing Sickness and Deaths

HEALTH ALERT! …..

Discontinue use of Beneful until this is resolved!

Multiple Reports We have received multiple reports of dogs becoming sick or dying after eating Beneful dog food. The first reports were placed in our new forum and was overlooked by DoggyBling.com staff until we received direct emails last week and then another today.

After speaking on the phone with the lady who emailed us today, we feel that there is sufficient cause for alarm. Dog lovers make a lot of effort to take good care of their dogs and will want to know if they are feeding them something that could be harmful. Most of the alerts by email, forum and phone cited Beneful dog food that was purchased at Wal Mart around Christmas of 2006.
We spoke with Terri Culp at Beneful this morning and were assured that they are aware of the situation and are researching the problem. We assured them that this won’t go away and we would be alerting our email base of the problem and posting a news item on our site. We also told her that DoggyBling.com visitors and dog lovers everywhere would be evaluating the way the Purina Corporation (Parent to Beneful) handles the potential crisis.

Symptoms

The symptoms reported have been very similar. The reported symptoms include some or all of the following:

General weakness or sluggishness, glazed eyes, not interested in food or water, white gums, lack of control of bodily functions. Some of the callers reported dogs that have died and others say they had gotten sick but had recovered. I am inserting the first forum post about a dog that became sick, but didn’t die.
A week before Christmas we bought a bag of Beneful dog food at Wal-Mart, DeFuniak Springs, FL. On 12/23 I noticed a tan mold like growth on the dog food. Our 14 year old Dalmatian mix had been getting weaker by the day and by 12/24 she was near death. Glazed eyes, couldn’t stand, eat, drink or control her functions. Her gums were white. We had to carry her to the yard and hold her up so she could go. The only thing she would eat was ham and turkey scraps. I spoke with a microbiologist and she said the mold growing in the dog food was toxic. It took a week for Sparky to regain her strength. I did notify the manufacturer of Beneful, they were very sorry and are sending coupons. Said it was a rare happening.

Notify us if your dog has had symptoms after using Beneful We are going to stay on top of this situation and would like to know if your dog has had any of the symptoms listed above after eating Beneful. If so, please send an email to ric@… or give us a call at 904-430-0260.

Just wanted to get this out there!
bassetnut, I am not passing judgement on purina or thier foods, and I also do not feed my Sibe this type, but I know a few friends that do feed this food and just wanted to make sure the info is out there for owners, I just don’t want any furkids to suffer

I have heard, and its not happening just with Benifull it happened also with Authority and California’s best. With the pressures on dog food companies to compete with one another, dog foods have become more organic and meat based. Adding meat and natural foods to the recipes come with added dangers. With out boosting chemicals for freshness and anti bacterial properties, because people want a pelleted food for easy and speed, they also dont want all the chemicals. So these companies are boosting meat and natural foods and lowering chemicals.
CASE IN POINT: BINGO it means more problems with the foods shelf life. They ROT. They grow mold and nasty bacterias. People think since its biscuit form its safe but far from it. Companies that supply foods are not aware of all this stuff. They stock the bags and they NEVER ROTATE these bags of food. You know on average the bag of food that you bought could have been on a shelf for over a year? As an owner you have to be aware of things, ask the shop some questions, do they rotate stock? How long do they keep it stocked before giving it away? Does the food have a freshness date on it? How much percentage of the food is all natural? If its more an organic food the less shelf time it should have.
We used to get all old food from Target and Walmart and a pet food company to feed our shelter dogs, and after so many problems with moldy food, and believe it or not, GRAIN MOTHS. We stopped accepting the free food and went to a specially ordered food formulated for shelter dogs. We shelled out the bucks for fresh, high quality kibble from a reputable company. Royal Canin. We strictly fed only Sensible Choice made by this company. Saved headaches and vet bills.

Dog skin problems?

I have cocopoo dog that has recentally started losing her hair towards the back end of her back and tail section . She has not begin to really be in pain and staches constally i bathed her several times it try and maybe relieve the problem. a friend told me that he thought back in the day it was called mange (spelled wrong) i wanted to know if anyone can help me treat her for this and what i might buy to help her get rid of this!

There can be many reasons. One is mange. But another can be plain simple allergies. We had a dog that was allergic to something in Our home, and lost hair just like that. Had no fleas, The skin was crusty so Automatically we thought it was mange. We took him to the doctor, and the doctor did a thorough exam of him and found out it was an allergy, prescribed some medicine and within a week the hair was growing back. You need to take your dog to the vet. Constant bathing of her, can cause dry skin which won’t help the itching. I know your trying to help her and at your whits end, but you need to get that dog to the vet. It could be something very simple…..like an allergy. If that’s the case, then the doc will prescribe the right type of medicine and your dog will be better.

Remember Dogs get things just like humans do. They can get sinus infections, respratory infections, allergies, and various other things. Even Epilepsy. Dogs have had heart problems, arthritus, as well as Diabeties. Best thing for you to do to help the doggie feel better is take her to the vet. She will thank you. You will be thankful for her not being in such a condition, and your heart will feel better because you helped your friend.

Does my dog have a behavorial problem or a medical problem?

My daschund constantly licks his penis and the whole area around it to the point of making it come out, then he has sit there and wait until it goes back in. I’ve talked to his vet about it and they have felt for lumps or other things and they keep saying that it is nothing. I don’t know what to do about it.

this is a natural habit for dogs, cats, and surprisingly, even hamsters and rodents. dont worry about this habit, they will sometimes grow out of it. my male chihuahua did this until he was neutered at the ripe young age of one and a half.

Do you think dog health insurance is a good idea?

I just got a puppy recently and I heard about doggie health insurance. I’m debating whether or not to get it; my boyfriend doesn’t want to. But I think it’s a good idea if it doesn’t cost to much. Any other opinions?

Absolutely! When I think of the literally thousands of dollars I had to spend on my last dog (back surgery) I wished every day I had bought the insurance.

With my new dog, I bought it but haven’t had to use it yet! (fingers crossed!)

How much should I charge for dog-training and sitter?

I’m an experienced dog trainer (I’ve fully trained my three dogs, as well as several of my friends dogs which included a pitbull, rottweiler, and german sheperd) and needing some extra cash for how everything is so expensive these days, I want to take up a part-time job of dog-training and sitting. How much should I charge? What would you pay for a personal trainer? By the way, I’m 17 1/2.

For the first few customers, go low (like $10-$15, no more then $20) just so that you can get experienced even more. When you’ve trained a few customers dogs till they are satisfied, use them are recommendations and go higher. Of course, I wouldn’t pay no more then $50 for a person trainer.
