To Your Dog’s Health!: Canine Nutrition and Recent Trends Within the Pet Food Industry
Product Description
Written by a man who is passionate about nature and all living creatures, this book contains everything readers could want to know about giving their dogs the best nutrition possible. Arguing that the processed dog foods on the market today ignore the health needs of most dogs, author Mark Poveromo–an expert in animal nutrition and owner of a dog and cat food store–provides readers with information on dog-food brands, holistic and raw dog foods, and recipes tailored to dogs with specific health issues, such as cancer or kidney disease. Don’t be surprised if To Your Dog’s Health! makes you apologize to Fido or Fifi for all the years you just opened up any old can or bag of food, put it in a bowl, and left it for the day. And then you get upset, maybe even mad, when you got home from work, tired and maybe a little cranky, only to discover your pet hadn’t touched its food. To Your Dog’s Health! just might be your wake up call…. More >>
To Your Dog’s Health!: Canine Nutrition and Recent Trends Within the Pet Food Industry

Dogs are the number one pets in America. We love our dogs and spoil them rotten. But very few of us know how to properly feed and take care of our dogs. This book helps you understand how to feed and take care of them.
Mark Poveromo provides recipes for dogs and explains how the dog’s diet can be changed. He also writes about medication for dogs as well as holistic approaches to a dog’s health. Included in the book are recipes that one can use with their dogs.
Another “cutsie” detail is the paw print in each chapter which has a “hint” that you can use with your pooch.
I highly recomend this book. It is very useful, plus it is easy to read and understand.

An easy read with no other agenda than your dogs health. My 10 month old dalmation was diagnosed with a possibly fatal bladder blockage from stones. After surgical removal, the vet wanted the special (vet only supplied) UD diet which the dog would not eat. After doing reasearch on the cause of stones we decided on a raw diet of chicken only.Since august of 2008 the urine and x-rays are Completely clean. I am convinced that Mark’s dietiary guidance has saved my dog’s life. No disresepct to the initial surgery which is equally responsible for him living to need a proper diet!

This book is a must for people with dogs. It has wonderful photographs and a great deal of important and useful information. You will certainly look at your pet differently after reading this. We learn about feeding and nutrition, food allergies (my Sophie, a Jack Russell “terrorist”, for example, will not eat chicken and we have learned that she is allergic to it), health issues (dogs can get cancer) and some just fun facts.
Poveromo gives us recipes for our dogs and tells us how we can get them to change their diets and he writes about medication for dogs as well as holistic approaches to a dog’s health.
One of the fun things about the book is the use of the paw print–each chapter has one and each print has a hint for keeping our dogs happy. The book has certainly changed me and therefore changed Sophie as well. We were good friends before I read this but now Sophie can’t wait for me to get home so I can teach her something new.

This book is full of valuable information for all people who want their dogs to be healthy. There are recipes to make your own dog food and brands you can purchase ready-made. I think pet owners have been brain washed that the only food they can feed pets are packaged from manufacturers when the best diet is a natural one. I am giving this book to my brother to try out on his new puppy and I am going to switch over my dogs to a more natural diet.

This book is great for any dog owner. It’s very easy to understand and not overly technical and really helps differentiate between all the dog foods available today. Highly recommended.
