Many dogs are very sensitive to simple lawn grasses..Plus it could be something in your home like the carpet if you had cleaned it and than the chemicals you used could be doing it. Try this web sie below and it will show you differant skin problems with dogs and maybe you can match up one to help in treatment for your dog.
References :
www.thepetcenter.com/gen/itch.html

Now don't poison your dog like Gianna does... don't use Murphy's oil soap.. that is a house cleaner.. don't be silly

Any shampoo with a oatmeal base. There are products on the market that will help with dry skin. Also is she has dry skin, she might not have enough oil in her food . An easy fix without spending tons of money and changing food is.. for her size add 1-2 teaspoons of corn oil onto her food at each meal. This will add oil to her diet and help her skin and hair coat.
Also watch, carpet deodorizers and plug in air fresheners They are the lead cause to dog allergies .
References :
I have a 2 dogs with allergies. I changed foods, eliminated carpet fresheners and toxic cleaners in the house. Good luck its a tough one to work on.

Vet shampoo's, there's probably several worth trying.

Oatmeal shampoo for doggies.

Or, my fav., Murphy's Oil Soap (liquid). This has worked great for me with sensitive skinned dogs (and I've had a few). No guarantee's! But it may be worth trying.

No human shampoos. Way too harsh.

Also try switching dog food brands. Gradually. Pour about 1/3 of the old on top of the new food so that it gradually changes over..... avoids upset tummy.
References :
You could get another vets opinion or you could go to the pet store and ask them because they have alot of different medicated shampoo. Also how often do you give her a bath ? To many baths can dry a dogs skin out.I get this Fresh & Clean medi-clean medicated shampoo for dogs it is good for andruff , dermatitis , itching & dry skin. You can go on line at www.lambertkay.com and read up on it. I bought mine at the pet store. Hope this helps.
References :
My dog had the same thing.. one of my cats does as well... i used a oatmeal based shampoo and then a hypo allergenic moisturizer to soothe their skin.

This is a good hypo allergenic shampoo to use.. i think you have to buy it online though.

Your dad's dog may have allergies. He could try changing the dog to a food with very few ingredients and no wheat.

The vets sometimes treat the dog with prednisone for allergies but this medicine really is not good for the dog on a long-term basis.

There is allergy testing for dogs but it is very expensive.
References :
I have had a dog that had skin allergies.

Walmart sells a shampoo for doggies that has cortisone in it. The brand name is "8 in 1" and it says on the bottle, Premium Hydro-Cortisone Shampoo - itch relief. When you shampoo it in, leave on for about 10 minutes before rinsing off. Best wishes.

Your doggie might also need a mild tranquilizer until the itch cycle is broken by the shampoo. A second opinion from another vet would help with this issue.
References :
Have you guys tried changing foods? There are foods for sensitive skin.

There are shampoos that are natural and may help

or the dog might just be neurotic.

Have you gotten a second opinion
