Dog Biting Problems – And How To Prevent Them

Dog biting problems can occur with any dog!

Many people sometimes make the mistake and are ignorant to the fact that their dog could cause them dog biting problems. While everybody feels some level of respect for a big, snarling dog they are becoming way too complacent about their own dogs.

Does the thought; “My dog would never attack anyone” enter your mind? Unfortunately your not alone and your dog could bite if he was provoked or felt threatened!
Dog owners will say that their dogs are completely safe with kids. I myself was bitten when I was a child and it often happens and even the most well behaved dogs could bite. If a child is bitten by a dog it can cause a fear to develop in them which can carry on into their adult life. This can easily be caused by the slightest nibble from a dog.

Biting dogs can cause a lot of damage to a person. The dog bite I received only left a few small scratches but it would’ve been worst. A small amount of medical attention and a few months of mental scarring and the effects have all disappeared. However most people don’t come away from a dog bite as fortunately as I did.

The harsh reality is that everyone can make sure that they don’t put themselves into a ssituation that would instigate a dog attack. Dogs don’t attack unless provoked do they?
Not quite. It’s true it does take some provoking to get a usually mild mannered dog to bite the triggers aren’t as obvious as you would think.

So why do dogs bite?
Leading minds in the dog world will tell you that a dog bite won’t happen through been provoked or through the way they have been bred. Some breeds of dogs can be said to bite more than others however dogs today have had many years of been a household pet. We have been trying to breed the perfect dog for many years now.

There are some proven reasons that humans can provoke even the most docile dog:

-When your dog is eating his food from his bowl don’t touch him or the food.
-When you encounter an aggressive dog don’t make any sharp movements, move away very calmly.
-Don’t disturb a dog when he is asleep.
-A dog will protect his territory and attack any unfamiliar visitors.
-DON’T EVER TRY TO SPLIT TWO DOGS UP WHO ARE FIGHTING!
-All dogs will defend their puppies even from you, their owner, it’s just a maternal instinct everyone has.
-A sick dog could lash out due to not been 100% sure what the matter is.
-All dogs will bite if they sense a potential threat to them or their owners.
-If you dog is happily playing with something in his paws don’t just try to grab it, he will bite.
-Don’t make eye contact with a confrontational dog.

Only the owner can stop dog biting. Don’t leave things to chance and follow these pieces of advice to avoid your dog from biting;

-Give your dog the snip to help cut down their levels of testosterone which can cause high levels of aggressiveness.
-Start socializing your puppy at a young age. Get your puppy used to being in a busy and unfamiliar environment as soon as he is vaccinated.
-It would be a good idea to learn how to train your dog and get him to obey your commands so that you can embed into your dogs mind that they look to you for leadership.
-Visit your vet on a regular basis and keep all his vaccinations up to date. Get your dog licensed, chipped and keep up to date on all his paperwork.
-Always keep your dog on a leash when he is out. Your dog should be kept on your own property and you should control his access to the street.

You can begin putting all of this to work right now and you will start to see results. Your dog will probably start to listen to you a lot more also.
